Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy is concerned with the promotion of health and wellbeing through occupation. We see ‘Occupation’ as anything that occupies and is meaningful to you, not just your job. Our primary goal as an occupational therapist is to enable our clients to engage independently and safely in meaningful activities of daily life, from showering and dressing to shopping and social activities.

Our occupational therapist can help with:

  • Personal activities of daily living including self-care, toileting, dressing and sleep

  • Motor and sensory development and rehabilitation

  • Pain Management

  • Fatigue management

  • Cognitive skills development

  • Home assessment

  • Assistive Technology Prescription, including seating

  • Functional Assessment

  • Chronic condition self-management

Our occupational therapist will achieve desired outcomes through working with people across multiple contexts to develop  the necessary skills to engage in activities that are important to them. This can be done through environmental modification, task adaptation, provision of assistive technology, and rehabilitation and retraining. Where necessary our occupational therapist will link in with other service providers to ensure the clients goals and needs are met, including our Exercise Physiologist at Brain x Body Fitness Studio, our Senior Clinician (Counsellor), our Parkinson’s Nurse, and other external providers.
