I've just been diagnosed with Parkinson's

If you have recently been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, you probably have quite a few questions. You may want to find out more, or have specific questions or concerns not yet covered on this website.

If you do, please phone the Support Line on 1800 644 189.

The Support Line staff can assist with a range of areas such as emotional issues related to the diagnosis, community services and respite, Centrelink entitlements, driving, insurance and employment.

It is important to know that everyone will be affected differently by their diagnosis. No two people will have exactly the same symptoms nor will their experience of Parkinson's disease or other movement disorders be the same.

In addition, your attitude to life is very important. If you have Parkinson's disease, try not to be too discouraged. If you find that your condition slows you down or makes certain routine activities more difficult, then try to keep working at your own pace, and retain as many of your leisure activities as possible. Keep yourself active and healthy.

Parkinson’s SA is here to support you.
